Connect

Mastodon has no single host: your account lives on whichever instance you joined. Settings, then Connections, then Mastodon:

  1. Enter your instance's address (for example mastodon.social).
  2. Postlyra registers itself on that instance (once, reused for every account on it) and sends you to its own authorize page.
  3. Approve, and you are back.

If your instance refuses that dynamic registration, you get a fallback: paste a personal access token instead, generated on the instance under Preferences, then Development, then New application.

What it can post

500 characters, text or media, video included. A first comment can follow the post, and a thread follow-up can be scheduled alongside it.

Metrics

Mastodon post metrics and follower counts sync automatically. Its credentials do not expire the way OAuth tokens on other platforms do, so its scheduled touch also re-reads your name, handle and avatar directly rather than needing a separate refresh. See Metrics.

Engage

Replies and mentions arrive in your Inbox, read on a schedule. You can reply, and repost your own posts.
